Sunday outings

On Sundays, even before we read the paper or settle in with a good book, we get out into nature. The thought of our sporty sunday outing gets me through our occasionally rough week nights. I so love it -  it's being out in the sun, the wind, the weather. It's having a chance to chatter and talk big dreams, and it's the flat white that is always part of the adventure.

This weekend, we made the most of the new lime bike paths that have popped up all over Hawke's Bay, with a coffee at Clifton Bay cafe along the way. I heart sunday outings!







And then it was home to my new favourite book -

The most quirky, stay-all-day delicious Auckland cafe, Little and Friday, now has a beautiful new cookbook. Love love love!

A cup of tea and a bit of book chat!

Welcome to our first Cup of Tea and a Bit of Book Chat session Surely, one of life's greatest joys is having friends who recommend you good books. With that in mind, I really want to start monthly blog book chat sessions with you all. I'll start with the best book/s I've read during the month (I'll try to limit myself to two!) and would love it if you post your latest read too. Storytime by pictures

There are some children's book illustrators who have made magic.  Tasha Tudor is one of them. She illustrated nearly 100 books in her lifetime (1915-2008). Hunt her out if you haven't found her already. My favourite (so far - I haven't happened across them all yet!) is her book 'A Time to Keep', a book of festivals and holidays, with the most delicious illustrations of family rituals and good times. I so want to own this book! I also want to track down the edition of 'The Night before Christmas' by Clement C Moore that she illustrated. I have seen some of the pages from it and it looks beautiful.
